My Fave Blogs

BY Unknown 3 comments

So, I thought I’d make a list of my fave tumblr/blogs/vlogs atm. I read & watch these blogs without fail every single time I go on the internet.
1. YoursFabulouslyxoxo:  Is a blog by a friend of mine and I just love the pictures she uploads and the little snippets into her life we get. She's got a great passion for music and fashion, which is inspiring.
2. Melissa's Wardrobe: A friend told me about this blog and I been reading for a few months now. I LOOOOVE how extrovert she is, she’s so brave when it comes to fashion and I really admire that.
3. AtFashionForte: This blog is by Rosie Fortescue (from Made In Chelsea) Rosie along with Millie & Louise are definitely the most stylish and fashion forward of the show. I like that she takes pics and ALWAYS tells us where she got her clothes from.
4. The Persian Babe: Her name is Barbara and she uploads everything from hauls to tutorials and reviews. What I love about her style is that its so effortless.
5. OfficialKourtneyK: This blog is practically my homepage, of all three sisters she is the most daring and gets it right 99% of the time. I think I admire her so much because she reminds me of me lol.
6. Beauty by JJ: Another youtube vlogger, she has a fabulous wardrobe  that is very much affordable and amazing make up and hair tips
There are loads more blogs that I love, but these are the ones I look at on a regular basis, I would love to get some suggestions on other blogs. xx

Style Vs. True Whit

BY Unknown No comments

At Christmas I bought Lauren Conrad’s How To book “Style”. I was anticipating this book for a long time and i'm sad to say, I was hugely disappointed with its contents. The advice was a little basic for someone who was suppose to be a style icon and fashion designer. A lot of what was featured was common sense, I already knew most of the “tips” she was offering. Now I am looking to buy Whitney Port’s book “True Whit”, which is also a style book. I’m going to read a few reviews before I make a purchase but I hope its a little more insightful than Lauren’s.

New Year... New Trends

BY Unknown No comments

My friend suggested I make a post on my style predictions for 2012 but to be honest I'm not good at making predictions for trends so instead I conducted a mini survey to see what trends people would like to see appear in 2012. The majority of respondents shared a common liking to going old school, 70s/80s/90s...

1. Dungarees:
Dunagrees (Sold Out): Stella McCartney
Blouse: Alexa Chung for Madwell
Ballet Pumps (similar): Topshop

This trend is often seen on stars like Alex Chung and Selma Blair. Go long in the winter, with a long sleeve chiffon top or oversized sweater and short in the summer with a baggy tee. I would love to see this trend come back, the only issue is it doesn't seem to be a wearable trend for all dress sizes. High street outlets to browse for this trend would be Asos and Lee.

2.  Socks and Heels
I like this trend because it can make an outfit look a lot more casual and less "perfect". It has an effortless appeal.

3. Versace Shirt
One trend I found very interesting to hear was the silk shirt...for men. Men's fashion has really come leaps and bounds this decade and this is proof. It was first pioneered in the late 80s early 90s with the likes of Notorious BIG and it has now been revived by stars Drake and Tyga.

4. Patchwork:

I can see this trend being big in the future, especially with the recent popularity of aztec and navajo.

A trend I would definitely like to see this coming year is the return on the bohemian hippie look. A look championed by Nicole Ritchie and Isabel Lucas, its effortless and feminine.

2011 Flashback

Here's a list of my favourite style moments of 2011...
Everyone was rocking flares this year, dressed up with clogs and a floaty blouse or dressed down with a baggy tee and flip flops. Props to Kourtney K who I personally think is the pioneer in this trend.
The Ombre trend initially started last year but blew up this year, EVERYONE tried this look and its a suitable style for all skin colours just as long as the right shades are used. What I've started to see develop is the use of pastel colours such as pink and blue instead of blonde, which i'm considering doing myself.
In March the fantastic series Secret Diary Of A Call Girl ended. It was literally, a British Sex And The City and if the rumours are true, a feature film should be in development right now. Out of the whole series, the final was the most fashion forward and I was OBSESSED with what Belle was wearing every week.

In April, the who's who of Hollywood attended the Coachella Festival to see the likes of Kanye West, King of Leon, Chase and Status & Plan B. The festival brought out the inner hippie in most with an influx of floaty maxi skirts, cut off denims and tie dye tees. In my opinion best dressed has to go to Kate Bosworth in her white shorts n tee combo and Isabel Lucas for her hippie homage.

Made In Chelsea began May 2011 and I personally think it is just as good if not better than TOWIE! The style is just so elegant and classy and much more wearable day to day than the outfits on TOWIE. My favourite fashionistas' are Rosie, Millie and Louise.

Finally, my favourite moment of 2011 has to be the emergence of Karrueche Tran, Chris Brown's girlfriend. She is my style crush of the year, so adorable and always gets it right, from her hair, to her makeup and her style. I want these two to stay together forever <3.

Pretty Little Liars & The Lying Game Return.

BY Unknown No comments

January will see the return of all my fave shows first up are ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars and The Lying Game on 2nd Jan. Both are adaptations of the two novel series' of the same name by Sara Shepard. Both shows started out pretty badly, the acting, the writing it was all stiff, it made me cringe but eventually they grew on me and now i'm addicted.

PLL is midway through its second season and is like a teenage desperate housewives, which makes it a lot more relatable for viewers my age. The four girls are banded together by secrets revolving around their deceased friend. The girls are convinced they're friend was murdered and when they start receiving threats, they make it their mission to find out who is behind it all. The show is currently airing on MTV in the U.K. What I love about the wardrobe on this show is the individual style each liar has to reflect their individual personalities.

The Lying Game premiered in August 2011 and is based on a set of twins separated as toddlers. The twins find each other and swap lives in order to find out the truth about their birth parents. The main plot is reminiscent of Richy Rich/ The Prince and the Pauper with a million and one sub-plots but its good family drama. The show is set to air on 5* in the U.K in February 2012. The wardrobe on this show is like a toned down version of Gossip girl.

Sip in Style.

So Jimmy Choo are now selling luxury leather coffee sleeves.... To be honest this is the most ridiculous accessory ever invented, the whole idea is pointless, yet at the same time **covers eyes** its totally genius and innovative. The sleeves retail for £90 and if I had more money and NO sense I would definitely train myself to like coffee so I could "Add a touch of style to my morning coffee break "

I Heart Dr. Zoe Hart

BY Unknown No comments

It's about that time of year when all my fave american tv shows are on hiatus :( but as luck would have it, I recently began watching the CWs Hart Of Dixie, which stars Rachel Bilson. The show follows city surgeon Dr. Zoe Hart. After being fired for her lack of bedside manner, she finds herself having to move to the small town Bluebell, Alabama to become a general practitioner. She soon finds her lack of empathy is what is holding her back and must learn to get the people of Bluebell onside if she wishes to succeed. The show will be airing in the U.K in April on Really.

To be fair, Hart Of Dixie is a good show, its like a mix of ABCs Private Practice and the 2002 film Sweet Home Alabama, however, I think the main reason I watch it (other than the fact that there's nothing else on) is because of the wardrobe. Hart is a fine example that you can take the girl out of the city but you cant take the city out of the girl. With shorts being her staple item, she mixes cropped jackets, floaty blouses and chunky heels to create true city chic. The other main girl in the show is Jaime King's character Lemon Breeland (Harts arch nemesis) who is in my opinion away with the fairies. Her style is very much influenced by the history of the small town, wearing a lot of vintage inspired pieces, pastel colours and embellishments to create a 1950s glam look.

There were so many looks to choose from as I'm several episodes in but these are my fave ones :)

Episode 4: In Havoc & In Heat
Dress: Herve Leger by Max Azria

Episode 5: Faith & Fidelity
Faded Stripe Top: Helmut Lang
Wrap Leather Skirt: Helmut Lang
Drea Wood Wedges: Tory Burch

Episode One Gumbo & Glory:
Leather Jacket: BCBG Max Azria
Stipe Blouse: Equipment
Leather Shorts: Chloe

Episode 1 Gumbo & Glory:
Jacket: Veronique Leroy
Top: Theory
Trousers: Rage and Bone
Wedges: Alexander Wang

Hiya,

In the event that anybody other than myself is reading this, I would like to formally introduce myself and welcome you to my page. My name is Dammy, I'm 21 years old and I'm at University studying Media. As with the majority of bloggers, my interests include mainly fashion, television and film. My aim with this blog is to incorporate all three of my interests and create posts based on outfits I like, from the tv shows I watch and celebrities I stalk lol.

Anyways, hope you enjoy.
