Check Mate...

BY Unknown IN , , , , , , , , , , , , 2 comments

The hottest celebrity trend on the red carpet right now has to be the Louis Vuitton 60s inspired checkered prints.
Jessica alba showed the checkered look can be pulled off by curvier figures in monochrome and midi length at the Golden Globes afterparty. Kerry Washington on the other hand opted for a figure skimming version catered to slimline figures at the Django Unchained premiere.

Kirsten Dunst donned a floor length version. I like it on Kirsten but personally that's way to much print for me. I would stick to midi and mini versions.

My faves have to be the mini dress worn by Miroslava Duma and Miranda Kerr. I also love the matching jacket Miroslava added to her look.

Kristen Stewart was one of the first celebs to rock the checkered look in a playsuit at the Breaking Dawn Part II photocall last year in Tokyo.

This is a tricky trend to try at home but I've seen some more subtle checkered pieces from Topshop and River Island.

SAG AWARDS...

The Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last week and literally everyone looked amazing. Picking my best and worst dressed was pleasantly difficult...

 Creme De La Creme
Jayma Mays; clearly influenced by her on-screen character's forthcoming nuptials, looked like a contemporary  bride in this Georges Hobeika SS13 Couture gown. Kerry Washington made up for her previous sins at the Golden Globes in a crisp white Rodarte gown

Blue Belles...

Jennifer Lawrence caused a stir when she got up to collect her award in this Christian Dior gown which featured a slit across the knees. Nicole Kidman looked youthful in Vivienne Westwood Couture, clearly taking a leap out of Jennifer Garner's book. Amanda Seyfriend who is gorgeous in everything; channeled Old Hollywood Glamour in Zac Posen.

Sisters' doing it for themselves...

Ariel Winter is clearly on a winning streak in this nude Alex Perry gown . She can do no wrong! On-screen sibling Sarah Hyland seemed to be taking tips from Sofia Vegara in a figure hugging floor length Dolce & Gabbana dress in just the right shade of purple.

Nina in neon...

The flawless Nina Dobrev looked slender and elegant in this gorgeous Elie Saab dress. I love this colour so much! To save it from being too plain the gown featured a slash detail across the front to the back.

Really Though?...
I'm guessing Kaley Cuoco was trying to showcase her sense of humour in this Romana Keveza gown because she looked like a caricature. Rose Byrne on the other hand looked like she stepped off the set of a 1950s poltergeist movie in this Valentino gown.

Hair and Makeup...
I think Kaley was wearing a wig, it's the only way to explain why the cut was so unflattering. Sarah glowed with a bronzed face and nude lip.

Who: Mollie King
What: The Saturdays Press Conference
Where: Soho Hotel, London
When: Wednesday 23rd January 2013

Mollie looked very trendy in head to toe high street at the Saturdays press conference for the launch of their reality show 'Chasing the Saturdays'. The singer wore an Reiss blouse with Asos tartan cigarette trousers. I spy a forthcoming trend...

Style Profile...

All hail Millie Mackintosh. I am suffering from serious closet envy right now!
The MIC star recently launched her own website; Millie-Mackintosh.com which features videos and an online store to purchase lashes from her lash line. The site also features a style diary; regular OOTDs from her much coveted wardrobe.

Millie's style is sometimes smart sometimes casual but always well executed!
There are literally countless looks I could choose from but this post would never end so I'm gonna show you guys my faves of her most recent looks, enjoy...

Cropped jacket, skinny jeans and a fedora, that is usually what you can see Millie in on a casual day.  The striped jacket with fringing on the hem (top left) is from Sandro. This leopard print biker jacket by Rare (top right) which is unfortunately sold out; is an affordable alternative to the A.L.C Leopard Fur Savile jacket seen on the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Khloe Kardashian (right).

I love the way Millie pulls off a smart casual look by going for statement midi skirts and simple tops.
Both the embellished Miss Selfridge pencil skirt (left) and Yellow leather Virgo's Lounge skirt (right) are pieces every girl can rock to any function.

The Miss Selfridge skirt comes which a matching jacket.

Millie actually has the BEST gilet collection I've ever seen.
She was one of the first to start rocking the leather biker gilet (left: Supertrash) which is gonna be huge for SS13. I love the bold blue she's gone for to brighten up her look. I would personally go for yellow; that's a lie I'd probably just stick to black lol. This Alice+ Olivia fir gilet (right) is perfect for our current climate.

Every week, I find myself researching where Millie gets her MIC outfits from.
From series 4 of MIC, this beaded mustard dress from Virgos Lounge had me in a daze and I loved the way Millie styled her Beulah painted lady dress with a statement gold necklace and bangle then muted the look with a cobalt blue clutch.
(Apologies for the poor quality in images, these were screenshots).

Before There Was Sex, Before There Was The City...

BY Unknown IN , , , , 1 comment

I finally got round to watching The Carrie Diaries and the verdict is in...
I LOVE the 'new Carrie Bradshaw'.

Big bouncy curls, an eclectic wardrobe and a flare for writing; yes it's Carrie by name but its not our Carrie by nature, which is why I found myself constantly thinking "Carrie wouldn't do that" but the reality is Bradshaw circa 1984 is not the same Bradshaw circa 1998. The Carrie Diaries is not Sex and the City. That being said, I love the youthfulness and slight innocence of 16 year old Carrie I'm interested to see what happens during Miss Bradshaw's teenage years that turn her from this suburban teen into the iconic, shoe obsessed, New Yorker.

I've never been a fan of 80s fashion, so the wardrobe on The Carrie Diaries isn't one that I'm excited by but I did see a few impressive pieces.

Number one has to be THAT bag. It is the ultimate statement bag.
This customised Marc Cross bag is an instant classic!

I love the floral Topshop jeans and Opening Ceremony top Carrie wore on her first day back at school.

This is my fave outfit of the series premiere. The gorgeous floral blouse is by 10 Crosby Derek Lam and the bermuda shorts by Topshop.

Hart of Dixie Get The Look...

BY Unknown IN , , , , , , , , , , , , No comments

If I could steal anybody's wardrobe it would have to be Dr Zoe Hart from Hart of Dixie.
Her style is the epitome of cool- city chic, she's stylish but simple. You can take the girl out of the big city but you cant take the city out of the girl.

Hart of Dixie returned to The CW on Tuesday night and Zoe Hart was looking very autumnal in an Of Two Minds tweed jacket paired with a Joie two tone leather mini skirt which she was also seen wearing in episode 7.

Leather skater skirts are hot right now and all over the high street. Topshop do a two tone one in Khaki/black but I would personally stick to one colour in either oxblood or black.
Tweed jackets are great transitional pieces for spring; my faves are by Missguided and Zara seen below.
Pastel colours (MissGuided) are a no brainer for spring and bold colours (Zara) are great for an edgier look.

The Best and Worst of the Golden Globes...

BY Unknown IN , , , , , , , , , , , , , , No comments

The Golden Globes; an awards ceremony second only to the Oscars'!

We saw the anticipated return of Adele, a 'coming out' speech from Jodie Foster and a very special guest: Hilary Clinton's husband!! Here's my list of the best and worst dressed.

THE BEST...

Now I know a lot of people are trying to give this one to the original Jennifer in Ben Affleck's life but I have to disagree... The best dressed has to go to the usually plain Jennifer Garner in this sequinned Vivienne Westwood gown. She just looks so stunning

Taylor Swift used the red carpet event to once again remind her ex of what had been lost in this backless Donna Karan Couture gown. The front is a little boring which is acceptable because the back is just gorgeous. Eggplant is such a great colour on her too.

Yummy Mummy Adele made her red carpet comeback in Burberry channeling 60s ladylike and demure glamour in slimming black, while Yummy Mummy to be Kristen Bell glowed in her adorable Jenny Packman gown. Awww.

Striking gold again this year was 15 year old Ariel Winter in this sweet Valentino Resort dress paired with sparkly Benjamin Adams pumps (right). Simple makeup with a bright lip and THAT headband made Ariel look age appropriate and the envy of all prom queen wannabes.

The Latina Lovelies were without a doubt striking in their gowns! While J.Lo opted for super sexy in this Zuhair Murad sheer dress which fit like second skin, Jessica Alba stuck with cute in this coral Oscar de la Renta number.

THE WORST...

Lucy Liu in Carolina Herrera and Halle Berry in Versace were hands down the worst choices of the night. There are no words.

And surprisingly, two stars who opted for unflattering attire were Sophia Bush in Lisa Ho and Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. Sophia's gown seemed to drown her, making her look frumpy, whilst Kerry seemed to make no effort with hair, makeup or accessories and killed an otherwise gorgeous dress.
